Overview

Kurosaki Japanese Bistro & Restaurant, nestled within the serene clubhouse of Horizon Hills in Johor Bahru, offers a refined yet welcoming escape for lovers of authentic Japanese cuisine. Its strategic location by the poolside enhances the dining atmosphere, creating an inviting space where guests can savor their meals in private, enclosed booths that balance intimacy with comfort.

The bistro shines in its thoughtful approach to traditional Japanese dishes, delivering generous portions that do not compromise on quality or flavor. Lunch sets present excellent value, making it an appealing choice for both casual meals and leisurely gatherings. Signature offerings such as the crispy fried chicken, paired with a homemade nanban tartar sauce, highlight the kitchen’s dedication to crafting memorable flavors from familiar ingredients.

While the miso dishes receive mixed feedback—with the broth sometimes lacking the expected warmth and depth—the chawanmushi stands out with its silky, soft texture and rich, generous fillings, speaking to the chef’s skill in balancing subtle tastes. The ramen noodles, particularly the beef ramen served with hearty chunks rather than slices, reflect a robust take on a classic, satisfying those who seek comfort in every bite. However, the unagi fried rice, though flavorful, could benefit from a more generous portion of eel to match expectations.

The experience at Kurosaki is enhanced by attentive and friendly staff, contributing to a sense of luxury without pretension. This bistro caters well to families and visitors, especially those exploring nearby attractions such as Legoland, who appreciate a high-standard yet affordable dining option. The flexibility in menu choices—like accommodating protein substitutions—demonstrates a customer-centric service philosophy.

In summary, Kurosaki Japanese Bistro & Restaurant melds a relaxed clubhouse setting with skilled culinary execution, offering a refined Japanese dining experience that feels both accessible and thoughtfully curated. It’s an excellent destination for guests seeking hearty Japanese flavors in a peaceful, stylish environment.

Located inside the clubhouse, by the pool. Came here for lunch. Seating is quite unique, there are private enclosed booths. The lunch sets are very good value. Food is delicious and arrived quite quickly. Portions are generous as well. Would definitely come again.

Their food was super good , just the miso wasn’t hot enough and miso paste not thick enough, specialised salad sauce made with mango, love their chicken recipe, they allow to let me change beef to chicken. Their fried chicken was fried till crisp super delicious. Their nanban tartar sauce was homemade too. Their miso chicken was a disappoint tho, they use packed miso sauce to fake miso. Love their chawanmusshi , generous ingredients served hot and the texture was silky and soft enough.

Food and service is top notch. Ramen is great. The beef is not slices but in chunks as per pic. Unagi fried rice - Unagi portion is pretty small.

Very affordable price at luxury environments. The staffs are friendly and helpful. The foods also very nice with the price range. I will come back again every time we visit Legoland. Only drawback is their Miso Ramen is not so tasty, I would not suggest this dish but recommend other dishes
